Obtained her Ph.D. degree in 2003 at the Universidade de Vigo. After two years of post-doc, first in Universität Duisburg-Essen (Germany), then in Ira A. Fulton Schoolof Engineering – Arizona State University (USA), she joined the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela as a IPP researcher. In 2008 she was awarded the L’Oréal-UNESCO (Women in Science) Award, and in March 2009 she joined the Universidade de Vigo as a Ramon y Cajal fellow. She is associate professor at the department of Applied Physics. Dr. Salgueiriño has published 81 articles (5 Adv. Materials, 2 Nano Letters, 2 ACS Nano, 2 Angew. Chem., 5 Adv. Func. Mater., 6 Chem. Mater., 5 J. Mater. Chem., 3 Small, 2 Nanoscale, etc.), which have been cited more than 4300 times (h-index 30) and 4 book chapters. Her work has been shown in different conferences and workshops, with more than 50 national or international communications, with 9 of them invited (including one plenary and 7 keynote). Dr. Salgueiriño has been PI in several Spanish Plan Nacional and Xunta de Galicia projects and has been supervisor of 4 PhD theses and she is currently supervising three additional PhD students (in the programs of Nanomedicine, Colloids and Applied Physics). Her group research targets the development and physical and chemical characterization of new magnetic nanoparticles and nanocomposites, with particular focus on interfaces between transition metal oxides and bio-related applications.
